A small, green and picturesque saddle dotted here and there by the beautiful flowers that give it its name, limited to the north by the smooth walls of the Creta Cacciatori and to the south of the grassy ridge of the first pinnacle of the Genziane.
This proposal is, in some respects, unique in that it brings you to one of the most evocative corners of these mountains, a small green carpet suspended between the sky and earth, a tiny unexpected oasis for hikers who still have the whiteness of the screes and smooth rock slabs of the surrounding limestone crags in their mind’s eye. The route is sunny with no particular problems It is tiring where it climbs the huge cone of gravel and debris a short distance from the saddle, which, in itself, represents a pleasant destination. This, however, is often only an obligatory waypoint through for those who have the objective of the summit of monte Avanza (see the normal Routes section).
Follow itinerary n. 35 as far as the small shelf below the large scree slope. Continue up the latter using a narrow track that climbs it in a zigzag. This completed, continue along the obvious path that climbs a grassy slope with short turns, at which point there appears the extraordinary saddle, where, in the embrace of the crags that surround you, you can enjoy a well-deserved rest.
The return is by the same route, but for those who still want to trek and are seeking other evocative environments, we suggest that, having arrived back down at the small shelf, to continue briefly along the path that goes northwards, initially to the Cacciatori pass and then (signed) to the Sesis pass and from there down to the Calvi refuge and the large car park on the provincial road n. 22. Following the latter for c. 500 metres you return to the starting point at the junction for the Casa Vecchia dairy farm and you will have completed the Chiadènis ring as well.
